Serving The American Rinks has partnered with the Ontario Recreation Facilities Association (O.R.F.A) of Ontario, Canada to bring time tested industry eduction and instruction to the United States.  The STAR / O.R.F.A. Alliance creates an environment for education unrivaled in the ice industry.    

Participants may attend any STAR CIT course throughout various locations in the U.S.  Additional courses are offered once a year at the North American Rink Conference & Expo.  

Certified Ice Technician Designation

The CIT designation will be granted to professionals in the United States who successfully complete the industry-related, multi-level training program involving the following courses:

• Basic Refrigeration (BR)

• Ice Making & Painting Technologies (IMPT)

• Ice Maintenance & Equipment Operation (IMEO)

5 STAR Operator Program

Industry professionals registered as individual members of STAR are eligible to achieve levels of certification in the 5 STAR Operator program. STAR offers both technical training and management education programs. Successfully completing a STAR course allows a registered professional to earn their way to the coveted 5 STAR Operator designation.

Safe Ice Resurfacer Operation (SIRO)

The Safe Ice Resurfacer Operations program is an efficient, cost-effective method for skating facilities to provide initial, standardized education to individuals that will be required to operate the ice resurfacers.  Safety is the main topic in the SIRO program and should be the top priority when educating staff for the ice resurfacer operation.
