Arena Supervisor  (Duluth Heritage Sports Center)

The Duluth Heritage Sports Center, the area's newest and most unique multi-sports facility, has an opening for an Arena Supervisor.

SUMMARY:
The Arena Supervisor shall be responsible for supervision of the entire building, including part time arena staff. Duties include a variety general maintenance tasks, including maintenance and monitoring of ice rinks, maintenance and monitoring of synthetic turf, maintenance of ice resurfacing equipment, air handling systems, dehumidification systems, and refrigeration equipment. Some general custodial work may be required. Also perform other duties as may be required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Consistently maintain the highest quality ice surface possible with the equipment provided.
• Consistently maintain proper working condition of all mechanical equipment to include: Zambonis, refrigeration system, dehumidifier, air handling units, heating & air conditioning units, security systems and any other equipment owned by the Duluth    Heritage Sports Center.
• Consistently maintain an optimum level of cleanliness throughout the entire facility, including arena seating, player's locker rooms, Warming House and other portions of the building.
• Maintain close liaison with the Facility Scheduler so as to be ready to attend to client's needs in a timely, efficient and professional fashion.
• Prepare and maintains required records for air quality, ice & turf maintenance and equipment maintenance.
• Prepare for and assist with special events.
• Supervise part time staff as it pertains to their function, duties and job responsibilities, including conducting scheduled performance reviews.
• Enforce all rules and policies. Teach and enforces safety rules and regulations to arena associates.
• Ensure that all arena associates have a clear understanding of their expectations & responsibilities, are proficient to perform their assigned tasks and are familiar with current work instructions pertaining to their duties.
• Provide daily reports to the Arena Manager on any needs or repairs.
• Perform any other duties deemed necessary for proper operation of the Duluth Heritage Sports Center.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum qualifications are a high school diploma and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in ice arena operations or equivalent combination of experience and training. Knowledge of the maintenance of the above equipment is essential. Previous arena supervisory experience, with applicable industry certifications, is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS
• Thorough knowledge of pertinent arena equipment operations and maintenance including the ability to operate and maintain ice resurfacing equipment.
• Thorough knowledge of refrigeration operations and maintenance.
• Knowledge of building maintenance & cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment.
• Ability to perform minor tasks in the field of carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electricity.
• Understanding of arena air quality standards and requirements
• Ability to handle public inquiries and questions in a professional manner.
• Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written assignments in the English language.
• Skill in the use of tools and materials commonly used in building cleaning, maintenance, repair activities, and minor construction projects.
• A Minnesota driver's license is required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND REQUIREMENTS:
• This position requires the majority of the work day spent either standing or walking.
• Working conditions include exposure to heat, cold, fumes, and noise
• Some lifting and carrying is required with weights of objects ranging from ten (10) to one hundred (100) pounds.
• Climbing of stairs, ladders, and other objects is often required, along with movements such as bending, kneeling, and reaching.
• Good sensory skills are important (sight, hearing, and speech).
WORK SCHEDULE:
• This is a full time, exempt, hourly position with benefits.
• Hours need to be flexible to accommodate Heritage Sports Center events and other related activities.
• Nights and weekends are required.
• Salary is dependent upon experience.
